Career Connections 2009-10
Following a successful pilot scheme last year Momentum will continue to deliver a programme to secondary schools in Northern Ireland to help to generate a positive attitude to the ICT industry in general and to ICT companies in Northern Ireland in particular. The programme contains the elements Road Shows, Talks/Workshops and Teacher Insight.
Over twenty STEM specialist schools have been invited to participate and this programme is supported by e-skills UK, the Engineering and Technology Board and companies in the local ICT industry. This programme is part of the Bring IT On Campaign which is supported by the Department for Employment and Learning and Invest Northern Ireland.
Career Connection Road Shows
These events are for pupils in one year group between Years 10 to 14 and are held at a ‘host’ school who invite pupils from other local schools to participate. Events to date are:-
1. Belfast Model School for Girls, North Belfast on Wednesday 4th November 2009
2. Antrim Grammar School, Antrim on Thursday 4th December 2009
3. Loreto College, Coleraine on Tuesday 12th January 2010
Career Connection Talks/Workshops
Sessions will be held throughout the academic year at schools and companies taking part in the programme.
Career Connections Teacher Insight
Teacher sessions within ICT companies will be offered to teachers at the schools involved in the programme.
