Andor's CEO scoops top Leadership Award

24/06/2010

Conor Walsh, CEO of Andor Technology, has been named as the Global Director of the Year for Northern Ireland.

The prestigious award was presented to him by the Institute of Directors (IoD), Europe’s largest membership organisation for business leaders. In October Conor will vie for the title of IoD’s National Director of the Year with his counterparts across the UK.

Miles Templeman, Director General of IoD said, “The awards recognise, celebrate and reward the achievements of established and emerging leaders and directors”. The awards were open to all Directors in both the public and private sector. Although the award marks Conor’s outstanding achievements as Director, he is quick to point out that success is not due to any one person and that the award honours the company as a whole.

When considering the strengthening position Andor have in the market it is clear why Conor Walsh has been honoured with this title. Over the past four years the company has created over 180 new jobs, both locally and internationally; it has experienced a 72% increase in revenues and has launched 20 new products. Andor continues to build on this success with the recent acquisitions of Bitplane AG and Photonic Instruments, USA.

The future vision Conor has for Andor also explains their on-going success. The strategy is to achieve superior advantage in the technology produced and this motivation does not wane even in the difficult economic climate. The drive and enthusiasm from all at Andor demonstrate how it continues to thrive, all the while under the guidance and watchful eye of the new IoD Global Director of the Year (NI).
